About the Writer

The comic is written by an elderly gentleman who has never, in his entire life, worked in retail. He lives in Indiana and commutes to Wisconsin to work in a large factory that manufactures happiness. Rumor is that it's owned by the greeting card conglomerates, but no one’s sure. He routinely travels to Delphi and consults the Oracle there; he records her prophecies in comic form. So far, it’s all come out as retail satire. She is very mysterious and wise.

About the Illustrators

Do You Work Here is, at present, and likely in perpetuity, illustrated by a group of hyper-destructive, constantly disapproving Dutch bunnies. Let me make one thing clear: they are not rabbits. Bunnies form the upper echelon of Leporid society, while rabbits constitute the lower caste. Referring to a bunny as a rabbit is a destructible offense. Meaning that you will be destroyed. Please keep these things in mind when sending emails to the cute, adorable bunnies that illustrate our comic and manage the website. They do welcome your half-informed and trumped-up suggestions, though. They may, however, be printed off and eaten.

About the Commentator

Apathy is a constant companion of any retail world. He takes time out of his busy day of inspiring people to shirk their responsibilities to write our posts. Yes, I know that it's ironic that Apathy is not apathetic. It's just a fact of life, and you'll need to come to terms with that.

Andy

Andy is twenty-four, single, and a student in Townston’s community college, working towards a degree in Psychology. He enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and days on which he doesn’t have to work. He works at Shop Mart because it’s one of the only places in town where an unskilled guy like himself can get a full time job. He works as a General Merchandise clerk, which means all departments are his responsibility. His favorite color used to be red, but now is not.

Bill

Bill is fifty-something, and the General Merchandise Manager at Shop Mart. He’s been with the company for thirty years and thinks his job is pretty good. He never talks about himself, largely because no one asks. His interests outside of retail are unknown. There are rumors that he’s married, but no one knows for sure.

Dan

Dan is a sycophant, and would be a pedant, but he isn’t really smart enough for that. He’s twenty-eight, has been in Townston’s community college for five years, and isn’t all that close to graduating. He's also a GM clerk, like Andy. In his spare time, he reads webcomics, writes Star Wars fanfiction, and cleans his apartment to ridiculously high standards. He likes forceful, attractive women way out of his league.

Amy

Amy is the Store Director of Shop Mart. She has an MBA and Master’s in Organizational Leadership, and is currently gunning for Regional Manager. Her husband divorced her three years ago, which is something she hasn’t really gotten over yet, so she tends to be overly focused on work, which is the reason her husband divorced her. She also collects porcelain horses.

Genevieve

Gen is twenty-five. An avid photographer, Gen is working at Shop Mart for the insurance until her online photography website is nationally recognized and people start driving dump trucks full of money up to her house. She works the Service Desk at Shop Mart, which is largely regarded to be the worst job in the store, including bathroom maintenance. When not at work, Gen enjoys taking pictures of various things, painting pictures she ends up hating and throwing away, and hanging out with her mom. Unless forced, she always wears black.

Ix

Ix (pronouced: icks) is a Dutch bunny. She has been for sale at Shop Mart for at least two years. Everyone who's bought her has brought her back due to her hyper-destructive nature. She routinely escapes and causes havoc and mayhem. She has bonded with Gen, as they both are largely covered in black, dislike people in general, and both want to get out of Shop Mart.

Hannah

Hannah is seventeen. Townston’s high school keeps irregular hours for no apparent reason, allowing Hannah to work mornings and evenings. She regards this, her first job, as an exciting opportunity, and hopes to make lots of friends and impress her bosses with her excellent work. She has been hired to take care of the pets department, as she loves all animals. Most of the other employees are taking bets on how long it will actually take to crush her spirit, as she seems more resilient than most.
