I like reality shows as much as the next guy; I really do. Sitcoms are dead, or at least people should realize they are. However, we still have shambling, desiccated, show-corpses mucking up prime time when better options are available.

Most of the shows I watch anymore, which isn't a lot by any stretch, are reality shows. It Takes a Thief, Last Comic Standing, and Iron Chef are some of my favorites. However, there are a lot of shows out there that seem to be bent on showing jerks being jerks to each other for no real reason. Anything remotely resembling The Real World fits that bill. And if you wallow into the putrid mire that contains shows like Wife Swap and other such nonsense, you'll get the impression that the point was to get people who aren't like each other all together in some place so they can act like arrogant bastards for an hour.

This is turning into a rant, so I'll just make my point and leave it at that: TV should display some modicum of human decency, rather than capitalizing on the suffering of anyone it can. Oh well. As long as I'm wishing for the impossible, I want a flying castle with weeping willows cascading from the turrets.
